Project Summary:Our overall goal is to conduct a retrospective analysis of the Norton Sound trawl survey data, examining changes in abundance and distribution of benthic species, and exploring oceanographic and climatic covariates. Specific objectives are to:
- Gather available historical climatic and oceanographic data of the Norton Sound region and examine changes that occurred from 1976 to 2006
- Examine changes in distribution and abundances of benthic species in the Norton Sound
- Explore climatic and oceanographic variables associated with distribution and abundance of benthic species in the Norton Sound
- Construct statistical models, which can be used to predict future distributions with respect to climatic and oceanographic changes
