Observing Radiation In Our North

Sources/Uses

Since we are continuously bombarded by various forms of radiation, the human body must be able to have some way dealing with the exposure. The human body does have the capability to repair damage caused by small doses of radiation. Below is a chart that breaks down the various individual sources of radiation.

Source Distribution Figure

Data used above was combined from various references.

 Natural Radiation:

  • Decaying process of Uranium-238 in granite rock formations and soils.
  • Cosmic radiation

Medical:

  • Cancer treatment
  • Sterilizing Instruments
  • X-rays

Other:

  • Nuclear Power
  • Food packaging
  • Fallout
