Buoy 39995
Launch date: 5 July 2003 at approximately 00:36 local time.
Latitude: 60° 39.942´N, Longitude 151° 34.176´W
This buoy was released by CISPRI at the location marked by
the light blue "plus" sign. Unfortunately, it was picked up by a
charter boat captain and brought ashore on 15 July. Although scientific buoys
should be left alone, we are glad that the Captain then contacted Ted Otis
at ADF&G who then contacted our colleague Dr. Carl Schock of the Kachemak
Bay Research Reserve. As the lower plot shows, the buoy is now drifting in
Kachemak Bay and collecting scientific data. Its last location is marked by
the red "plus" sign.
